Chapter Fourteen

Glory

Glory was either the bravest woman in the world or the most foolish. When she approached Ripley in nothing but her underwear, she held her breath. But when he turned to see how she was dressed? His eyes darkened as they scanned her from head to toe.

“Wow. You are stunning.” Rip placed his hands on her shoulders and ran his fingertips down her arms. Glory didn’t have to look to know there were goosebumps. When he linked their fingers, he pulled her arms out away from her body and drank in all her bare skin. And there was a lot of it. “Before I get the wrong idea, do you normally sleep in your underwear, or is this a hint of what you want to happen?”

“It’s a hint. That is, if you want me,” Glory whispered.

“Oh, I want.” Ripley released her hands, and before she knew what was happening, he lifted her in his arms. She wrapped her arms and legs around his body as he strode to the bedroom, carrying her as though she weighed nothing. When they reached the bed, he lowered her onto her back, then pulled his shirt off and tossed it aside. Glory scooted back against the pillows and kept her eyes on his inked hands as he simultaneously kicked off his boots while undoing his jeans. When he pushed them down his muscled legs, Glory couldn’t help but notice the bulge behind his boxer briefs. Instead of removing them, he lay down on top of her, his erection nestled between her legs. Keeping himself aloft on his forearms, Rip pressed his lips to hers in a gentle caress.

“You are something else.” Rip peppered her face with soft kisses before nuzzling her neck with his nose. Inhaling deeply, he muttered, “Holy Zeus, you smell divine.”

Zeus? Glory couldn’t think about why Ripley was mentioning the Greek god longer than a second because he nipped at her neck at the same time he rubbed his hardness against her mound. She let out a breathy “oh,” and he did it again.

“You sure about this, Sunshine? Because if you don’t stop me now, there’s no going back.”

“I’m sure. I need you, Rip.” And she did. More than she’d needed anything in a long time. Sex with Chad had been quick and a little painful, but she knew in her heart it would be different with Rip.

Ripley angled off her, standing so he could remove his briefs. Glory slid her panties down her legs, then took off her bra while he pulled a condom out of his wallet. Thank goodness one of them had their wits about them. She wasn’t on birth control, and the last thing she needed was to get pregnant. Not that she would be opposed to having Rip’s baby, but not this soon after meeting.

Once he was suited up, he returned to the bed, kissing his way down her body. Glory wanted to hide her extra pounds, but with Rip on top of her she couldn’t.
